IQNA – The Holy Quran refers to some examples of great order in the creation of the world in order to invite people to contemplate and lead them from order to the One who created this order.

The Quran highlights order in the Universe

What the Quran says about order can be divided into two parts: Takwini (related to creation) and Tashriei (related to legislation). In explaining the Takwini order, the Holy Book refers to examples of the order dominating the world and invites people to reflect on it to learn about the One who created this order.

For example, there are references to the precise order in the sky, such as the movement of the planets in their particular orbits over millions of years.  “The sun shall not outstrip the moon, nor shall the night outstrip the day. Each is floating in an orbit.” (Verse 40 of Surah Yaseen)

There is an incredible order in creation of heavens: “Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other?” (Verse 15 of Surah Nuh)

The term ‘fine-tuned universe’ that began to be used in the 20th century is actually a reference to the truth in such verses of the Quran, the fact that the universe has an incredible order and design and all its details have been fine-tuned ideally for human beings to live in this world.

The Quran refers to only some examples of this great order that is understandable to people, so that they will be guided from the order to the One who created it: “Have they not looked at how the camel is created, how the heavens are raised up high, how the mountains are set firm, and how the earth is spread out?” (Verses 17-20 of Surah Al-Ghashiyah)

The fact is that the precise order and meticulousness seen in every aspect of creation manifests divine Hikmah (wisdom) and purpose, based on which all beings enter the world with certain goals and every phenomenon has a mission to fulfil. “We have created everything to fulfill a certain purpose.” (Verse 49 of Surah Al-Qamar)

Thus, in the world, every detail is well taken care of and everything is in its right place, showing the magnificent creation of the wise, all-knowing, all-powerful God.
